Title Defence policy of the USA (Trident) (1973)
Description US defence budget reductions. The Defense appropriations Bill passed by the House of Representatives provides a total of $74.5 billion in appropriations, a reduction of $2.75 billion from the Administration's budget request of $77.25 billion. Principle changes to the Administration's request were the deletion of $628 million in R & D funds, the termination of the site Defense ABM prototype demonstration programme, a$240 million reduction in the Trident submarine programme and a reduction of 5-10,000, in the end-year strength of active duty personnel.
